What is NDPCS?

About Us

The North Dakota Pottery Collectors Society is an organization which was created to enhance collecting interest in the types of pottery made in North Dakota. Pottery products utilizing North Dakota clay were produced during the twentieth century by a number of enterprosing companies, federal programs for North Dakota and the School of Mines Ceramics Department at the University of North Dakota. The major producers of North Dakota pottery and their times of production are highlighted HERE. Through sharing our findings, experiences and knowledge, we can all become better acquainted with one another and the pottery products of North Dakota. No records have been found listing all the items that were produced. As someone adds a unique find to their collection and shares it with others, our knowledge grows. If you have an interest in pottery, North Dakota, history, the arts, and/or education, the NDPCS has an immense ammount of information and a willingness to share it with you! Please contact us. Also, the NDPCS is a tax-exempt society and donates up to $1,000 per year to qualified non-profit organizations to purchase, preserve and display North Dakota pottery. For more information about the endowment fund, membership, or North Dakota pottery, please contact us.
We cannot mold the wet earthen clay with the potter's touch and special way. It will be out solemn vow to mold This knowledge for future minds to hold.
- excerpt from the poem, "The Collectors Gathering" written by Bonnie Olson and Andi Fertig

NDPCS Road Show

The North Dakota Pottery Collectors Society has developed a program called the “NDPCS Pottery Road Show”. The program provides historical and general information about the major producers of the types of pottery made from North Dakota clay. The program includes a slide presentation, a possible display of ND pottery types, and an identification session. The one to three hour program format would be presented by volunteer NDPCS members.
The NDPCS invites your organization to consider scheduling and hosting the Pottery “Road Show” in your community. Details and information about scheduling the event, location and facilitator will be worked out on an individual basis. Contact us for further details.
